An integrated approach to cold plunging
At Fit, cold plunging is part of a shared recovery environment designed to support consistency and care. Integrated within our communal recovery spaces, cold plunge tubs are available alongside other restorative tools, encouraging recovery as a regular, accessible practice rather than a one-off experience.
How cold therapy works
Cold therapy works through brief exposure to cold water, which encourages blood vessels to constrict and circulation to slow temporarily. This response can help ease muscle soreness and support recovery following training.
During cold-water immersion, the body adapts by regulating blood flow and activating the nervous system. When practiced intentionally, cold exposure may help reduce post-training inflammation response, support circulation, and promote a physical reset.
At Fit, cold therapy is offered as a self-paced recovery option, designed to be used thoughtfully and in alignment with individual comfort and experience.
Cold plunge therapy benefits
Cold plunging can be a supportive recovery practice when used intentionally and appropriately. As with any recovery modality, members are encouraged to consider their individual needs and consult a healthcare professional if they have specific medical concerns.
Regular cold plunge use may support:
- Post-training recovery and reduced muscle soreness
- Circulation and inflammation response
- Nervous system regulation and mental clarity
- Energy levels, mood, and sleep quality
- Overall physical reset and recovery consistency
Frequently Asked Questions
Are cold plunges beneficial?
Cold plunging can be a supportive recovery practice when used intentionally. At Fit, cold plunge is offered within a controlled environment designed to support recovery, circulation, and nervous system regulation as part of a broader wellness routine.
Is cold plunging safe?
Cold plunging is generally safe for most individuals when practiced responsibly. Those with cardiovascular conditions, sensitivity to cold, or other medical concerns should consult a healthcare professional before use.
How long should a cold plunge session be?
Cold plunge sessions are meant to be brief and intentional. For most people, water temperatures between 50°F and 59°F with sessions lasting 2 to 10 minutes can provide recovery and nervous system benefits.
Rather than focusing on extreme cold or long duration, consistency matters more. A sustainable routine, totaling roughly 10–15 minutes per week across multiple sessions, is often more effective than infrequent, high-intensity exposure.
How is sanitation maintained?
Fit cold plunges are professionally maintained and regularly cleaned to meet health and safety standards. Our recovery spaces are designed to be both effective and hygienic, supporting consistent, worry-free use.
Frequently Asked
Questions
Are cold plunges actually good for you?
Cold plunges have numerous health benefits, but it’s best to do them in a controlled environment with an experienced instructor. “Wild” cold plunging isn’t advised unless you’re a strong swimmer with plenty of experience of cold plunging and no underlying health conditions.
Are there any dangers to cold plunge?
In a controlled, therapy-led environment, there are very few risks associated with cold therapy. However, any sudden reduction in body temperature isn’t advised for those with cardiovascular conditions or some other underlying health conditions. Speak with your physician before trying this therapy.
How long should you stay in a cold plunge?
There’s no “right” duration of a cold plunge – it’s best to start small and build up. You should never force yourself to stay underwater if you begin to feel uncomfortable or panicked. Return to the surface and calmly exit the water.
Is a cold plunge sanitary?
Cold immersion in still, sitting water may be unsanitary due to bacteria in the water. Cold pools maintained by professional health and wellness centers are typically maintained to a very high standard of sanitation. If you have doubts about the cleanliness of a facility, ask how the pool is cleaned and how often.
